Abstract
The article presents Manfred Max-Neef's concept of Human-Scale Development, his critique of neoliberal economic dogmatism and its language, particularly parameters like Gross Domestic Product and the principle of economic growth. It also examines the proposition of barefoot economics and its redefinition of needs, among other related aspects. Similarly, it advocates for the need for a vital endogenous development that allows the articulation of the local and the national, the particular and the universal, facilitating the construction of a more comprehensive and environmentally respectful economic model. Over four years after his death, this text aims to serve as a call to review his work and appreciate his contributions, which fall within the realm of Latin American critical and alternative thought as a decolonial alternative.
