Abstract

The cultural industry explores the plane of feelings and intimacy to offer it as a good for mass consumption. One of the most promoted products is the song in its different genres. The ballad is one of the most diffused products in the mid-twentieth century. It is a mass phenomenon that besides giving shape to a language with formal codes and its own poetics, models a sensitivity to define an era. The Ballad offers the young audience a new way to feel and express the feeling of love, the gender condition and the experiences of the body (the enjoyment and pleasure). This article will deal with some of the principal themes of the ballad, and at the end, what the figure of the singer represents in the imaginary of the masses, the living myth that takes shape with its appearances and public presentations.
