Abstract
The interest in understanding the mechanisms that underlie learning is not recent. Among the different explanatory models that have approached the study of this cognitive process, two of the most influential have been the associationist model and the functionalist model. This article makes a historical journey through the study of the learning phenomenon, highlighting the most significant approaches of these models, as well as their main exponents.
