Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Cuestiones Teológicas will undergo a preliminary review by the Editorial Committee. The Committee will determine whether the manuscript is suitable for publication based on the journal's focus and editorial line, as well as its compliance with the Author Guidelines. Once the manuscript has been approved by the Committee, it will be sent to two external peer reviewers, who will evaluate it anonymously (double-blind review) and provide a recommendation regarding its publication.
Given the high volume of submissions the journal receives and its commitment to academic quality, only manuscripts that receive a favorable recommendation from both reviewers will be accepted for publication. This means the manuscript should require either no changes or only minor revisions. If either reviewer rejects the manuscript or requests substantial changes, it will be rejected, even if the other recommendation is favorable.
The possible outcomes of the review process are:
- Accepted: the manuscript will be published without changes or with only stylistic and formatting adjustments.
- Accepted with minor revisions: the manuscript will be published once the author has addressed the reviewers' comments, which will in no case involve substantive changes.
- Rejected: the manuscript will not be published because at least one reviewer rejected it or requested substantial changes.
In all cases, authors will be notified of the decision regarding the evaluation of their manuscript. The entire review process, by both the Editorial Committee and the peer reviewers, is expected to take an average of three months.
The form used for manuscript review is available here.
