“Protection, guarantees and effectiveness of the consumer rights in Colombia”

Abstract

Is the Colombian consumer of the 21st century protected well enough from the market dynamics of the current Colombian economy? This is the question this article tries to answer, with an extensive investigation of what Colombia has to protect them: Which laws have been promulgated in this topic, which are their rights, which actions or tools they have to enforce them, which authorities are responsible for their protection and who are their representatives. After this overview, the article analyzes the effectiveness of these means and institutions, to finally state whether Colombia’s existent normative system is sufficient to protect consumers, or if it requires to be rebuilt.
