Losing the taste of life

Abstract
Saint Augustine says that the soul manifestly lives longer if it has flavor and that, on the contrary, life is much less enjoyable if it cannot be savored. Although this seems just a metaphor, researchers from the UPB Faculty of Medicine would say that it is more of something literal. As a matter of fact, since 2015 they have cared to investigate swallowing disorders (technically called dysphagia), associated with neurological and neuromuscular causes in patients who have difficulty swallowing or appreciating even the simplest food without them coughing or choking.
