Abstract

This article presents the dilemmas of the problem of objectivity of knowledge of political affairs. This confronts the nature of politics with the issue of truth. In a second stage, it suggests a definition of political philosophy and political science, highlighting the historically troubled relationship of two disciplines whose point of intersection is the study of political practice. The author concludes that neither has an exclusive domain of objective and scientific study of politics, and although they have different methodologies, they themselves are not antithetical. The text suggests the complementary aspect of political science and political philosophy, and the need to criticize the behaviorist paradigm of the former and claim the scientific status of the latter in the context of the dominant positivist mentality.
