Neopopulism in the context of the latin american democracy
Main Article Content
Abstract
Has the Political Populism disappeared in the Latin American context? Taking this question into account, the answer is no, because the populism has been transformed and it has acquired new characteristics that allow it to adapt to the new historical-political scenes, but without leaving aside the attributes that conceptually originated it. This means that the Populism has become a characteristic trait of the political culture of the region and it has adapted easily to fit the current globalization processes. In order to prove this, three points have served as support: the way how Populism has turned into neopopulism, some neopopulistic leaderships in exercise of power at the moment, and the relation between Populism and the liberal democracy in the game imposed by the political system in the present.
