Abstract
In the early decades of the twenty-first century, the criticism to the liberalism as a political ideology has been characterized by the unusual resort to counter revolutionary philosophers such as Carl Schmitt. The contributions made by this German from the political realism, seem to be timely when criticism to the demo-liberal project requires renovated interpretation tools, especially with regard to the essence of political acts, i.e. the definition of the ¨political concept¨.
In recent years, this author has served as the basis for the construction of an alternative political theory to the liberalism and Marxism, in thinkers such as the Belgian Chantal Mouffe (1999, 2003 & 2007), who based on Schmitt and his distinction friend-enemy, to come up with an innovative Republican perspective on the contemporary political. On the reading that this author does about Schmitt relies the interest of this article, not only for the level of influence that the philosopher has in Latin American academic circles, but by her ideological distance with the German. What compels us to ask ourselves: How much is there of Schmitt in Mouffe´s proposal?, Which Schmitt`s issues do not deal with Mouffe?, Why does not he do it? This article gives an approach to the concept of the political of Carl Schmitt from the criticism of the interpretation that, in the contemporary reading, Chantal Mouffe makes of the term.
