Author Guidelines

Before starting your submission, please carefully read the information provided in the Author Guidelines section, in the Submission Preparation Checklist (further down on this same page), and in the journal's Code of Ethics section.

Once you have verified that these requirements are met, log in to the OJS system to make a submission.

Important: all authors must include in their submission the AI Use Declaration, duly completed and signed by hand. Download it by clicking here. Note: the use of artificial intelligence tools does not, by itself, constitute grounds for rejection, provided that such use has been duly declared.

 

Manuscript Preparation and Formatting

The journal accepts submissions in the following article categories:

  • Research Articles: manuscripts that present the original results of research projects in a detailed manner, following the standard structure commonly used for this type of article.
  • Reflection Articles: manuscripts that present research findings from the author's analytical, interpretive, or critical perspective on a specific topic, drawing on original sources and following the standard structure commonly used for this type of article.
  • Review Articles: manuscripts resulting from research that systematize, analyze, and integrate the findings of published and unpublished studies in the field of political theory, with the aim of identifying advances and trends in this area of knowledge. These articles are characterized by a thorough review of the literature.
  • Book Reviews: manuscripts that present recent bibliographic contributions relevant to research and academic and scholarly publishing in the field of political theory. They highlight the main and most significant aspects of the work under review while providing a critical assessment of it.
  • Translations: please contact the Editor if you wish to propose the translation of a text.

Citation Style

The journal follows the most recent edition of the APA Style.

Short direct quotations (fewer than 40 words) should be incorporated into the text within quotation marks. Long direct quotations (40 words or more) should be presented as block quotations without quotation marks. In both cases, the author, year, and page number must be provided.

Footnotes should be used only for explanatory notes and not for bibliographic references.

 

References

References must appear at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order, using a hanging indent and single spacing, in accordance with the most recent edition of the APA Style.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in the comments to the Editor).
  • The author's information must include the following: full name, highest academic degree obtained, institutional affiliation, ORCID iD, identification document number, and corresponding author's email address.
  • Maximum length: 8,000 words (including tables, references, and notes).
  • The manuscript must be prepared in Microsoft Word, using Letter page size, 3 cm margins on all sides, 1.5 line spacing, and 12-point Arial font.
  • URLs should be provided for all references whenever possible, preferably the DOI, if available.
  • All authors must register for an ORCID iD at https://orcid.org/register and submit it, together with their academic qualifications and institutional affiliation, when submitting the manuscript.
  • The manuscript must comply with the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, available in the About the Journal section.
  • The manuscript must include an analytical abstract in both Spanish and English, with a maximum length of 200 words, describing the central idea, objectives, methodology, main findings, and conclusions.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, I hereby AUTHORIZE the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, free of charge, to:

  • Publish the work submitted through this submission, of which I am (we are) the author(s), in the Revista de la Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Políticas (e-ISSN: 2390-0016), in its digital version or in any other format in which the journal is published.
  • Include the work, in whole or in part, individually or collectively, in future special issues of the Revista de la Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Políticas (e-ISSN: 2390-0016), as well as in catalogs, databases, bibliographic indexes, and print or digital publications, whether open access or subscription- or fee-based. I also authorize its indexing in the national and international databases in which the journal is currently indexed or may be indexed in the future. Likewise, the work may be incorporated into any educational product or material used by the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana.
  • Distribute, reproduce, publicly communicate, translate, edit, adapt, display, and promote the content of the work, in whole or in part, in text, image, or any other digital, electronic, optical, or other existing or future format or medium. I also authorize the downloading of the work's content.

I assume responsibility for all opinions expressed in the submitted work and declare that, in its preparation, the intellectual property rights of third parties have been respected. To that end, I have obtained the necessary permissions from the respective rights holders and have properly cited all sources used.
