Abstract

Are we entitled to speak about the «Word of God and different cultures» or have we to speak about « the Word of God intertmingled with culture»? Taking Paul´s experience as the first apostle who evangelized his culture, this essay studies the ways he took when he preached in the synagogues. He tried to convert less the Jews themselves to Christianity than proselytes and sympathizers with Judaism whose numbers were growing in the Greco-Roman cities in the 1st century.  it is in this environment that Paul conveyed the Gospel filled wih ethical, social and religious values of his contemporary culture.
