Abstract
Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been in power since fifteen years. His controversial personality makes him a character apart in contemporary Turkish history. This article aims to demonstrate that its success, like that of its party the AKP, comes from further afield and has precise sociological and ideological origins. The synthesis between nationalism and Islam is the heart of it.
