Mining and Sustainable Human Development The analysis of the mining policy in the period 2002-2012

Abstract

The betterment of investment context in Colombia has helped the recovery of national territory and weakening of guerrilla groups in the last decade. ftis resulted in an out- burst of concession applications, which became a predicament for the national mining records office. In one decade, the country could duplicate its current coal production and expand its gold production. Notwithstanding, Colombians might not receive much from this unrepeatable boom of minerals due to institutional fragility, corruption, environmental damage and the deepening of one of the worst social conflicts in the world. This paper is part of a graduate research proposal and its development has been mostly referential.
