Abstract
The paper exposes the reasons which made possible the valuation and success of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights contained in the Resolution 217A III and in the Universal Islamic Declaration of Human Rights, along with their legal development. From a historical and axiological perspective, life and human dignity are the touchstone for every possible consideration or estimation of the Human Rights. A wide comprehension which allows harmonizing the diRerent ideological, social and religious points of view of the communities of the world is needed. Therefore, establishing universal criteria for Human Rights is problematic because we cannot define their validity and boundaries of application. Bearing this in mind, the aim is finding a convergence point that gathers the diverse perspectives around Human Rights and that conciliates the fundamental values of society.
