Abstract

Cyberbullying represents a growing challenge for coexistence in digital school environments. This study aimed to explore aggressive cyber behaviors among five students from a school in Cucuta, Colombia, through a qualitative multiple case study, using content analysis as the main research technique. Messages exchanged on WhatsApp and Facebook were examined to identify patterns of threats, insults, and exclusion, considering the power dynamics as well as contextual factors related to the family and school environment. The results showed that aggressive cyber behaviors are influenced by context and variability in institutional responses, demonstrating the absence of effective protocols. In conclusion, the study underscores the need for early intervention, teacher training in cybersecurity, and educational programs that promote responsible use of ICTs and the development of social skills, in favor of a safe school environment, especially in communities with socioeconomic limitations.
