Abstract
Going through different canonical narratives of the burial of Jesus the author describes how these narratives evaluated according to the theological view of each evangelist. According to Mark Jesus was buried by a Jew, member of the Sanhedrin, who buried him just to accomplish the Jewish law: Jesus was then buried near the place of his execution in a grotto without all due rites as a wicked person. According to Matthew, Jesus was buried with all honours by one of his disciples, a rich man, who gave Jesus even his own tomb. For Luke, Jesus was buried by a Jew, member of the Sanhedrin who considered Jesus as a man of God and did not vote against him during his trial. Finally, according to the gospel of John, Jesus was buried by two persons who followed him secretly and cowardly fearing the Jews but defied them at the most dangerous and difficult moment.
