Abstract

The current therapeutic-research work talks about the functioning changes in families with children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHA), in which after a systemic family-therapy process ADHA is considered a disorder in children’s behavior that impacts the relations system of the child-  family. With that in mind, a study comparing two groups of five families was conducted. One of these groups underwent a systematic familytherapy process and the other one was considered a control group, both groups were assessed with the “Familiar Cohesion and Adaptability Evaluation Scale- Phases III”, a tool which allowed to see the functioning of the family before and after the therapeutic process. It was possible to identify the subsequent changes to the therapeutic treatment in this study, which responded to a higher level of satisfaction in family functioning compared to the control group in which families showed few changes, remaining more stable. These changes were directly related to the exercise of authority and the relationship that the family established with the ADHA diagnosis. Concordance was found between the contributions of the narrative in the therapeutic exercise and the approach of these types of situations.
