Psychometric Properties of the Compassion Scale in a Peruvian Adult Population
Main Article Content
Abstract
The psychometric properties of the Compassion Scale (ECOM) were evaluated in a sample of Peruvian adults (N = 401). Internal consistency was estimated using Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega, and the internal structure was examined through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of a three-factor model subordinate to a second-order factor, using robust maximum likelihood estimation (MLR). The model demonstrated acceptable fit: χ²(109) = 309.784, p < .001; χ²/df = 2.84; CFI = .948; TLI = .935; NFI = .923; IFI = .948; RMSEA = .068, 90% CI [0.059, 0.077]; SRMR = .038. All factor loadings were statistically significant (p < .001). Reliability was adequate (ω = .81–.85; ω total = .93; α = .81–.89; α total = .93). These findings support the use of the ECOM for assessing compassion in the Peruvian adult population.
