Abstract
For Ortega y Gasset and Julian Marias, Arab thinker Ibn Khaldoun is one of the main links between East and West, to such an extent, that he is considered by both as the first philosopher of history. Ortega y Gasset says Khaldoun is the foundation inherited by the generations both Spanish philosophers belong to.
