About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Escritos is a semi-annual journal of a scientific nature, published by the School of Theology, Philosophy and Humanities of the Pontifical Bolivarian University, which disseminates unpublished articles derived from research, theoretical reflections, academic debates, translations and critical reviews in the lines of Philosophy and Literature, especially in Ethics and Philosophical Anthropology; Hermeneutics, Aesthetics and languages; Classical Studies; and Latin American Literature and Thought. The Escritos journal's mission is to contribute to research, discussion, and the dissemination of philosophical and literary thought in the declared lines, and it constitutes a discussion forum for the academic work of national and international professionals related to the aforementioned thematic areas.
Escritos publishes national and international articles.
Frequency
Escritos is a continuous publication journal issued on a biannual basis (January–June and July–December). Each continuous publication period closes on June 30 and December 31 of every year. The journal receives and publishes articles throughout the year in the thematic areas defined by its editorial scope.
The sections of the journal are the following
- Open Topic: includes articles on a variety of research interests in philosophy and literature, different from those gathered in the dossier.
- Dossier: brings together articles focused on a specific theme previously proposed by the Editorial Team.
The journal modifies the presentation structure of its sections in issues devoted exclusively to Open Topic, in which the Dossier section does not appear. In some editions, Escritos includes a Translation section containing articles or texts originally published in other languages.
The journal declares that all submitted articles are screened using the Turnitin plagiarism detection tool; the contents published in the digital version are open access and may be downloaded in PDF and HTML formats; authors must state that the text is original, authored by them, and respectful of third-party intellectual property rights; and reviewers must indicate in the evaluation form that they have no conflicts of interest regarding the authors or the topics under review.
Funding Model
Escritos is an open-access journal. It is funded and published by the Pontifical Bolivarian University, a non-profit institution.
