Abstract

This paper studies the most relevant works in which Levinas try to resolve the problem whether the word “God” has a meaning or not, which leads to a critic of Ontotheology trying to reach God beyond the being. In the first part, it is exhibited how the infinite rips totality and gives place to Ethics and Theology. In the second part, the consequences of this postulate for that God not-polluted by the being, which constitutes one of the fundamental points of Levinas’ Philosophy, are drawn.
