Abstract

This article critically examines the anthropological and theological-political roots of Anglo-Saxon modernity through the impact of the Protestant Reformation and Puritanism on the configuration of the American social order. From a hermeneutic approach inspired by Nietzsche and in dialogue with Hobbes, Weber, and Arendt, it analyzes the transition from premodern communal forms toward contractualist models characterized by individualism, social atomization, and instrumental rationality.

The study combines historical-intellectual analysis and philosophical reflection to show how certain theological and anthropological assumptions contributed to the consolidation of a social structure marked by distrust, ontological loneliness, and the erosion of communal bonds. Through an analysis of the Mayflower Compact and contemporary episodes of extreme violence, it argues that the American social crisis may be interpreted as a manifestation of nihilism linked to the metapolitics transformations of postindustrial Anglo-Saxon society.

It concludes that contemporary violence and social fragmentation are not merely political or economic phenomena, but expressions of a mutation in the ontological conceptions of community, authority, and transcendence, which can only be confronted through organic communal structures.
