Abstract

This paper analyzes an Old Latin carmen the Prayer to Mars, written in early Republican times by Cato at De Agri Cultura 141.2–3, but generally regarded as already ancient in the orator’s time, because the Prayer is consider one of the typical crafts of the Indo-European poetry, since Benveniste’s and Dumezil’s works. The division of the text in numerals and literals is the same that in the first part (Vol 16, No 36 2008), but the numeration of the foot notes and the referencing conventions has been modified, because the Editors of Escritos adopted the Modern Language Association of America (MLA) referencing conventions. The notes beginning in note 1 not in 39.
