Real truth in the framework of Xavier Zubiri's sentient intelligence

Abstract

This article analyzes the category of real truth in the thought of the Spanish philosopher Xavier Zubiri. The study is structured in four sections, in which we start with an introduction to the main elements of the theory of truth developed by this author, and then we propose an approach based on the theses present in Sobre la esencia, delving specifically into what is related to real truth and its dimensions within the framework of sentient intellection. Then we study the course given in 1966 entitled Man and Truth, in which truth is visualized as a constitutive element of human reality, emphasizing in a particular way its link with historicity. Finally, the first volume of the trilogy on sentient intelligence is assumed as a key input to understand Zubiri's mature thought on this subject. The research problem that structures this research revolves around the question: What are the foundations of the real truth posed by Xavier Zubiri in the framework of sentient intelligence? It is intended that its scope offers a systematized input to the reader interested in Zubiri's work on one of his most important themes. Methodologically, we have opted for a direct reading of the primary sources, from an eminently hermeneutic perspective. It is concluded that the Zubirian theory of truth is located at the primary and original level, where there is no room for error.
