Sociological and Anthropological Contributions to Understand the Religious Phenomenon: a Reading Based on Semiotics

Abstract

The methodological and theoretical contributions developed by sociology and anthropology, which help us understand the religious phenomenon and its relevance in the dynamics of different cultures, are an essential point of reference for the analytic praxis carried out following the rules of semiotics. This essay offers the reading of a discursive material written by known authors who are relevant to the foundation and development of sociology and anthropology. They emphasize on the symbolic and meaningful conception which can be taken as the emblematic expression of beauty.
