Narc Deco. Ethic and Aesthetic of Drug Traficking

Abstract

The following paper aims to establish a critical approach to the drug trafficking phenomenon in the city of Medellín based on aesthetic and sociological categories of analysis. The possibility of taking the notion of drug trafficking beyond the boundaries established by academic prejudices is proposed. fte paper finds a support in the term of Narc Deco to raise a possible suspicion against the so-called Culture of Drug Trafficking on the basis of a few questions suggested by the meeting with this particular perspective. The paper aims to show how the interest of drug trafficking towards some specific aesthetic forms is not a matter ruled by economic or political principles, but instead, this interest turns out to be an eRect. Finally, the paper accounts for the ethical limits that lead to  a kind of resistance of the legitimation of some of the aesthetic descriptions created around drug trafficking.
