Abstract

This article begins by raising the relation between the educational level of the working force of a country, the rates of economic production of the State, and the society’s conditions of life, affirming that the States are more competitive economic and socially due to the implementation of policies for the strengthening and acquisition of human capital. The second section discusses the acquisition of human capital by Canada through a migratory policy which favors the arrival of economic immigrants as an answer to necessities posed by postindustrial economy. As a result of Colombians as the most numerous Latin American community in Canada since the implementation of this policy, we will consider the profile of skilled Colombian immigrants and the reason why they interest the Canadian Government. Finally, we will conclude that Canada is a more innovative and competitive country because of immigration.
