The case of infectious. Pulmonary coccidioidomycosis. Report of an indigenous case

Abstract

A new autochtonous case of Coccidioidomycosis, is described. The patient was a 52 year oldbulldozer operator, resident in Pinto, asmallvillage in the Department of Magdalena. The initial consultation was due to high fever, chills, diaphoresis, astenia, adynamia and weigth loss of a month's duration The diagnosis was accomplished by direct examination, culture, and serology. The patient was treated with itraconazole for a year and improved markedly. No relapse has occurred after ayear of post-therapy follow-up.
