Relación entre el consumo de tabaco y alcohol durante la gestación y los TGD

Resumen
Los Trastornos Generalizados del Desarrollo (TGD) hacen referencia a alteraciones neuropsicológicas de etiología desconocida. Son trastornos de origen en la infancia, de curso crónico y con una marcada y heterogénea sintomatología. Se han propuesto diversos modelos de trabajo con respecto a la casuística que describe la etiopatogenia de estos trastornos. El objetivo de la presente estudio fue investigar si existen diferencias entre el consumo de tabaco y alcohol durante la gestación en una muestra de madres cuyos hijos fueron diagnosticados de TGD (N = 94) en comparación con un grupo control (N = 165). La muestra estaba conformada por 68 niños con trastorno autista, 6 con síndrome de Asperger, 1 con trastorno de Rett y 19 con TGD-no especificado. Los resultados encontrados muestran que no existen diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos. Por lo tanto, podría concluirse que, según los resultados hallados en este estudio, no existen diferencias significativas entre el grupo experimental y el control y, de este modo, el consumo de tabaco y alcohol durante el embarazo no puede ser relacionado con la etiología de los TGD.
