The man born blind: A narrative analysis of John 9
Main Article Content
Abstract
The authors conduct a narrative analysis of John 9, a text that has been little explored in its entirety as a narrated history. The article is divided into three sections. The first, the most extensive section, focuses on the narrative study of the text. The study provides a broad overview of the narrative, a synchronic reading of the text as it has come down to us, and a reading that suggests ideas that may go unnoticed by readers who approach the text using legitimate diachronic methods. The second section complements the narrative study with a theological approach to the story, and the final section presents a hermeneutic reading that shows how groups of inmates relate the text to their personal situation.
