Abstract

There is a general crisis of identity in our society stemming from a cultural massification around a common system of «values «. The present culture fosters a neutral identity, not yet defined, detached from the context and without meaning; because they have not found their own roots, people and men are bound to develop a weak identity, diminished, blocked. In the Gospel of Marc we found guiding lights for a community which was losing its orientation, weakened in its following the Lord, where there were even some desertions. This was due among other causes, to persecutions. Christians were losing their identity, were bolcked in ther commitment to follow the Lord and many had left. That is why Marc in this sequence recalls the original vocation when the
apostles were called, the community life they lead with Jesus, the formation they received and the mission they were given to carry out, all this in order to rekindle their faith and the enthousiasm to be genuine disciples of Jesus.
