Abstract

This text pretends to critically think about the dynamic relationship between communication and culture in the Latin American urban setting. The author highlights the need for a Latin American vision of communicative studies that value the perspective of the South-South dialogue. Communication journal presents to its readers the text by the Italian-Venezuelan thinker Antonio Pasquali, as a tribute to this influential Latin American author, who died in 2019. This article was presented by the author in 1995, at the School
of Social Communication and Journalism at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, and this work was published in this same journal when it was a printed magazine.
