Abstract
This conference presented an advance of the doctoral thesis called “Scholar media communications, education and citizenship. One viewed from the mediations”, that exposes “the word” which is essential and constitutive of mankind, losing its value; it explained that consume society promotes one eagerness overflow to obtain material goods under the pretext of obtaining personal comfort: everything can be bought. In this social context, the school assumes the market standards and expends its time in preparing children and youth to the labor world, leaving aside other essential matters like the education to confront personal difficulties and to learn how to live with the other. So, in the school the education of” the word” is oriented more by the imposition of language norms, according the standing regulations than by the expression of ideas and the report of the proper world of the student, information that is compiled and received in the school, but forgotten once the evaluation is finished, because the norm is not related with real life. To this is added that there is an overflow communication in this society, an oversupply of messages from diverse media and together carry to the trivialization of the information and of the word. Now, the contraction of words or the writing with few characters is a need imposed by a fast message. Therefore, the scholar media communications may be an experience to conform meeting spaces for children and youth in the school, spaces that permit the expression of life experiences, make questions and present proposals. Thus, it is a bet to “take the word” in which the scholar media communications serve as scenario for new generations to recognize the political value of the word and with it to learn how “to pronounce” the world, for the change of our society into a just and equitable one.
