Abstract
Commonly used in studies of dwelling and political theory, the concept of quality of life is positioned more strongly every day. However, as its range of use expands, this seems to empty its real content to the point of becoming the most appropriate cliché for political campaigning. Through this paper, a journey in which the quality of life is linked with happiness, its connection with public and private virtues, its role in the world of consumption and globalized cities; is proposed. From an eminently empirical analytical view, the dangers of the semantic weakening of a concept for the forms of social interaction and ways to understand the sense of community are shown.
