Abstract

This article portrays a reflection on the concept of work-family conciliation and its inherent conflict. This research study was carried out under the methodology of Case Study, which seeks to understand factors impacting and unbalancing the relationship between work and family. Among the conclusions drawn, we can see that the interest in studying the relationship between work and family was the result of the need to achieve greater equity for women, who faced a family-work conflict upon entering the paid labor world due to their traditional role as housewives. It should be noted that finding such balance is no longer an exclusive or unique problem of gender, since the current demands of the productive scenario impact the general wellbeing of the population. Another conclusion concerns the misconception pertaining the level of income, as it is thought that the higher the income the better the quality of life. The purchasing power obtained through hard work does not necessarily allow the time for family and friend enjoyment or the time to tend to one’s health.
