Social innovation and change opportunities in small scale artisanal mining, in Antioquia

Abstract

According to the most recent Economic World Forum (Medellín, 2016), the current model of development for Latin America is untenable for the region if we think on three key imbalances: the increase of social inequality, the problems of economic recession and the environmental deterioration, principally for the way of exploitation of the resources, the high consumption of pollutants and the current levels of production and consumption. In the same sense, ECLAC/ CEPAL raises that one of the solutions is to modify the way of doing things in order to achieve changes in the productive structure and to increase the participation of the intensive sectors in innovation.
