Main Article Content

Gabriel Jaime Arango

Abstract

The following paper presents some general aspects of The Song of the Songs and a description of this text. In a second moment, it presents the history of the interpretation of that text, going through the analogical transfer, the exegetic comments of the Church Fathers, the modern exegesis and the abandonment of allegorical interpretation, i.e., the change in the reader. To conclude, it offers a hermeneutics which aims to uncover what the metaphors of the fifth poem (So. 8, 4-7) might say, considering that they might refer to true love.
