Abstract

Martin Heidegger, Being and Time’s author, develops a criticism around the massification tendency
presents on the contemporary society. This criticism shows that “Dasein” is lost into the “Das man”, this
state of loss mean that men has scarified his individuality to accept the domination of the mass society,
which Heidegger call “the others”. As his ideas remain alive, in this text we want to analyze the present
of this discussion and the applicability of Heidegger’s ideas to the present time. We will start presenting
Heidegger’s ethical project as the answer to the state of loss into the “Das man”. We will explain the
fundamentals of Heidegger’s criticism using paragraph 27 of Being and Time, then we will see how this
ethic could be useful for 21st century society by stablishing links with Byung Chul Han theory, where he talk
about our society as hyper-consumerist, tired and unable of being amazed. At last, we want to conclude
showing that being authentic, as Heidegger puts it, is the way that takes the individual ahead to his self
knowledge and to be responsible of his “One Being-self”
