Abstract
A fatal case of systemic entomophthoromycosis is presented. The patient was a young, undernourished female, who presented involvement of both lungs, heart, esophages and pancreas. The diagnosis was established on the basis of the postmorten histological studies as the mycosis was not suspected clinically due to its rarity. In all the organs involved, it was possible to observe the presence or a chronic granulomatous reaction, which was centered on hyphal fragments. The latter were aseptated and were sourrounded by an an amorphous eosinophilic material (Hoeppli-splendore phenomenun). The main clinical and histopathological observations are briefly commented of this, the first case of systemic entomophthoromycosis published in Colombia.
