Symptomatology of stress, anxiety and depression in vulnerable groups in Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this research was to identify the levels of stress, anxiety and depression, and posttraumatic stress in a Mexican sample of people with some comorbidity, who have an informal job or present some deprivation. We worked under a quantitative methodology with a descriptive cross-sectional design, consisting of 1174 people aged 18 to 85 years (Mean = 36.4, SD = 12.4). The sample was non-probabilistic with 85.3% women and 14.7% men. The Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) and the Stress, Anxiety and Depression Scale (DASS-21) were used. High levels of post-traumatic stress were found in people presenting some deficiency in relation to the emotional states of stress, anxiety and depression. The three groups showed high levels of anxiety, with a higher percentage in the group with some deficiency. These results show the vulnerability in the mental health status of the population studied.
