Abstract

A revision of acid peptic disease is made; for that purpose current drugs used and their respective utility are defined: first, those that modify acid factor (antacids, anticholinergics, H2 receptors antagonists and substituted Imidazoles), second, those that Increase resistance (sucralfate, bismuths and carbenoxolone) and. Third, other drugs (tranquilizers, neuroleptics and prostaglandins). Therapeutic patterns used are discussed. Finally some connotations are pointed out about the importance of surgery in the treatment of acid peptic disease.
