Sudden sensorineural deafness. Review of the topic

Abstract

Neurosensorial sudden deafness is defined and its symptomatology analyzed. Physical examination of this type of patients is systematized as well as the laboratory tests that must be ordered. It is stressed that in order to achieve the proper diagnosis a complete clinical history is necessary making especial note of previous diseases, surgeries and personal habits of the patient. In relation with etiology of this condition virus and vascular factors are mentioned as possible explanations. A final comment is made as to the evolution and management of these patients and with different therapeutic approaches.
