The case of infectious. Disseminated candidiasis: report on six cases diagnosed in the mycology laboratory of the Corporation for Biological Research

Abstract
Disseminated candidiasis has become an Important and frequent Infection In special patients. Six cases diagnosed at the laboratories of the CIB between 1979 and 1989 are reviewed. The patients had underlying diseases which led to prolonged hospitalization and to different therapeutic Interventions. AII patients had two common predisposing factors, namely, a central venous catheter and broad-spectrum antibiotics. Candida albicans was isolated more frequently from blood and urine. More that 50% of the patients died In spite of antifungal therapy.
