The collectivization of medicine and the media

Abstract
In this report, the exponent refers, in first place, to the significant work Mass Media accomplishes in our society, and to the problems that they can bring about when that work is done out of the rules of objectivity and ethics, that should always surround the practicing of the joumalists profession. Next a small recount is done about the genesis of the social security in the world, with emphasis on the modem concept in Germany, as a result of the urban proletariat. Afterwards the exponent sketches the development of the social security in Colombia, since 1946, focusing on the organization of the system of the health attention adopted by the Colombian Institute of Social Security. He expresses what he considers as the characteristics that deeply affected the practice of Medicine, when the main basis of the Medical Act were twisted, al can be the free election and the confidentiality. Later he analyses the damage of the medical doctor's image in front of society, due to the partialized or deformed display of information and events related with the medical practice. Finally he refers to the prospects that opens the Law 100 of 1993 which, suitably regulated, can become in a truly revolution in what refers to the health attention in our country, widening the population covering of the social security, and establishing the basis that will enable that this attention will be of the best scientific quality, but mostly especially human.
