Abstract

Shone’s syndrome is a rare entity, which occurs more frequently in its incomplete form, we report the case of a 23-year-old male, who was admitted due to worsening dyspnea and progressive decrease in his functional class, with transesophageal echocardiographic (ETE) findings of aortic coarctation with monocuspid aortic valve, severe aortic regurgitation, and large dilatation of the aorta from the aortic root to the descending aorta, associated with left ventricular hypertrophy with a severe restrictive pattern, who underwent total aortic reconstruction, which represented a great challenge in surgery and anesthesia management from the moment of the construction of the aortic graft until his hospital discharge without any complications presented. The aim of this report is to show the importance of timely, comprehensive assessment of the patient who is going to undergo cardiovascular surgery.
