Abstract

A biographical synthesis of Dr.José María Martínez Pardo is made. He was one of first medical graduates in Colombia and practiced in Santa Fe de Antioquia with real humanitarian convictions and without mean interests. He was also a dedicated and abnegate educator and many distinguished Antioquia personalities of the past were his students.
He has to be remembered too as the first physician with official authorization to teach medicine In the province of Antioquia.
