Prophylactic antibiotics in surgery

Abstract

It is certainly demonstrated the role of the prophylactic antibiotics in surgery, nevertheless, there is o still a lot of controversies about how then to use them. Here we try to give o compendium of the recent bibliography concerning this subject, together with the clinical experiences in our hospital. Over this theoretical basis it is elaborated the therapy protocol used at the Hospital General of Medellin.
