Abstract

Since 1989 cardiovascular diseases has been the second cause of mortality In Colombia. Essential hypertensions and diabetes mellitus are two common and chronic diseases that are Independent risk factors for cardiovascular, renal and atherosclerotic vascular diseases. An appropriate management of these two diseases wall achieve an adequate control of both blood pressure and blood glucose so that devastating end organ damage may be prevented. This article discus the nondrug therapies, and the efficacy, metabolic and non-metabolic side effects of the various classes of antihypertensive agents used in the management of hypertension in patients with diabetes mellitus. In addition, guidelines for the management of these patients In accordance with other Pathologies present will be given.
