Abstract

A case of uterine rupture in the tenth week of pregnancy is presented. The pregnant woman had been subjected to abortive maneuvers, producing extensive lesions of the sigmoid colon and fecal contamination of the pelvic cavity. On laparotomy exploration, an intact gestational sac was observed, and so a Hysterectomy, partial resection of the sigmoid and a Hartmann operation were performed. Afterwards, the pregnancy took a normal course and a healthy baby girl was born via cesarean section in week forty one. After the colostomy was closed, four and half weeks later, the mother's clinical course was favorable.
