Abstract

According to the National Sanitary Code, all surgical specimens obtained with therapeutic or diagnostic purposes, must be subjected to pathology study. A series of steps are important so that the specimens be obtained and sent adequately to the pathology lab for their processing and study. A good medical history summary must also accompany each specimen, so that the pathologist may correlate with the pathology findings and therefore establish an adequate diagnosis or make valuable suggestions
